Dear DOH doctors and our part-time Lt. Governor . . . pretending is not a great idea right now; in this open letter we list the science
Why are Hawaii politicians ignoring the natural immunity had by more than 81,000 Hawaii residents, and why is Hawaii's DOH refusing to share data with epidemiologists?
(Dear readers: while it may seem as though our recent string of articles about the Covid-19 crisis in Hawaii has been a bit off topic, there was a reason for the departure. Our leadership have been under a microscope during this pandemic and we've been able to get a better look at just how things work. We wanted to provide food for thought. It was no accident that the legislature bulldozed through the passing of SB795, despite its being an illegal and unconstitutional measure. And it will be no accident that, come January, that same legislature will attempt to bulldoze through a piece of legislation that will set into motion the privatization of Hawaii's publicly owned submerged lands -- without public consent -- beginning with our entire public harbor system. The sketchy handling of the Coronavirus crisis, the mismanagement of publicly owned lands, The Rail fail, and so much more . . . it's all part of the same disease.)

We were heartened to read in the Star-Advertiser the other day Dr. Char's comment that the community has been "following the science".
Truth be told, we were not so much impressed by the latter as we were by the fact that there has been a decline in the number of covid cases in our State -- something not totally unexpected since scientists have been predicting this fall-off for at least the last 4 months. Regardless, we're happy that we're on our way to some form of herd immunity here in our State.
Unfortunately, while our residents are following the science, you, Drs. Char, Kemble and Green, are not. As a result, 82,000 Hawaii residents are being deliberately discriminated against in the current vaccine mandate even though they have natural immunity to the disease via a previous infection -- an immunity that, according to all of the latest science, is far superior to vaccinated immunity. These 82,000 residents have been deliberately excluded in the vaccine mandate and have been cast aside as if they were lepers, despite their superior immunity status. We think you need to disclose to the public why this is.
Additionally the state of Hawaii has been consistently and continuously misleading the community about the danger posed by even the vaccinated among us and their ability to spread the disease in our community. The Mandate clearly states that if you've been vaccinated you don't need to be tested. This contradicts the latest science which clearly points out that people who have been fully vaccinated can still be carriers of the disease and, worse, as we're now seeing in Israel, can end up in the hospital with a life threatening case of Covid-19.
According to the science, no one Is safe from this disease . . . so why are you bestowing special status only to the vaccinated in our community? What's your agenda?
According to nearly every piece of scientific literature available today, anyone who has been vaccinated for covid-19 can still get infected and can carry the same viral load as those people who have not been vaccinated. The State's Mandate assumes that those people who have been vaccinated do not need to have a covid test to enter a public building. This is extremely dangerous and irresponsible and needs to be amended so that everyone gets tested before they enter a public building or a large-scale public event.
It is very important that the three of you follow the science just like our residents are doing right now. They are relying on you to be honest and forthright and be up to date on the latest science as it applies to protecting our citizens here from this disease. Please have a look at the latest science provided at the end of this letter.
And please don't politicize this issue, Doctor Green . . . we know that you want to be part-time governor of the state of Hawaii, but you'll need to put politics aside right now so that we can get through this thing with as few injuries and deaths as humanly possible.

Some of the links point to medical journals, papers, and credible articles (mostly in science magazines) that discuss the latest scientific data regarding immunity status (natural immunity and vaccine immunity).
In the second section of listings you'll find scientific discussion about vaccine efficacy and the need for fully vaccinated individuals to use caution in public settings because of widespread scientific data suggesting that the infected vaccinated can still carry the same viral load as the infected unvaccinated.
In the third section of listings you'll find links to a growing number of lawsuits being filed nationwide because governments are not following the science.

(Note to reader: Hawaii's vaccine mandate requires that in order to enter a city or state office, take part in certain public events, or enter certain private establishments, a person either needs to show proof of vaccination or must present a negative Covid test no older than 72 hours. The mandate ignores the latest science: with the advent of the delta variant, the vaccine is now far less effective and those who are fully vaccinated can very definitely end up contracting the disease, spreading the disease, and/or become hospitalized as a result of the infection. According to Hawaii's vaccine passport requirements, the vaccinated do NOT have to show proof of a recent Covid test even though they can be contagious. There are 81,000 residents in Hawaii who have survived a Covid infection and now have, according to the latest science, superior immunity to that gotten from a vaccine. 81,000 people in Hawaii have been ignored by the mandate and, despite their immunity, must show proof of a recent Covid test. Natural immunity does not exist in Hawaii? So what's the agenda?
No one at Hawaii Ocean News is anti-vaccine. We feel that an individual's decision to get the vaccine is based on his or her own risk-vs-reward assessment.)

Ah, another YouTube researcher from the university of google. Asserting your rights without acknowledging your responsibility to others is called adolescence, not freedom. We are citizens in this country – that means we have both rights AND responsibilities to each other, and OUR country is experiencing a pandemic. Hi Paul . . . thank you for your comment. We generally expect that our readers will read the article first and THEN comment. The decision to publish this series on Covid was not taken lightly. We have two members on staff who have an affiliation with the medical industry and are especially well versed on the subject of medical ethics and public health. Could you point to something specific within our post that might qualify as “unlettered argument”? The volunteers at Hawaii Ocean News, most of whom are fully vaccinated, are committed to telling the truth about Hawaii’s government, regardless of how inconvenient that truth may seem. By the way, we couldn’t agree with you more about Mr. Underwood. After tracking his activity over the past 5 years there is reason to believe that the only thing standing between him and a jail cell is the lack of a thorough federal investigation.
I thank you for this article. I agree with you 100%. I refused to be vaccinated. I have done my own research. I am not anti-vax only this one cause it’s still an experimental drug. There has not been enough clinical trials for this vaccine. We know by the science it takes 10 or more years to really know what the the results would be. I watched the 2nd opinion with Sen Ron Johnson and panel expert of doctors and scientists. One of your tube article showed Kyle testified at this panel discussion about his covid injury he got from the vaccine. I have been following Dr Peter McCullough and Dr Robert Malone on this issue. They are the experts I can trust. I don’t trust the FDA,the CDC,WHO and Dr Fauci. It’s all about the money and not about people’s health. Keep doing what you doing. God bless
